To celebrate its 50 year milestone, Theatre 7 will present another outstanding three-show season, along with a variety of other fun activities throughout the community.

 

DECATUR CELEBRATION

It all starts in August of this year when Theatre 7 invites you to join them in the Decatur Celebration’s Razzle Dazzle Good Times Parade on August third.

 

Also at the Celebration, Theatre 7 will offer up a couple of fun surprises.

The “Golden Street Pianos” will be placed in two locations in downtown Decatur; one near T7 Headquarters at 131 N Water and the second on the corner of North and Water streets.  It is expected that individuals will share their talents and play a variety of music.  these impromptu mini-concerts should draw in the crowds to the three day event.

For the last evening of the Decatur Celebration, the public can join in a special “Improv Mob, created by Theatre 7.  Anyone with headphones connected to an MP3 playable device can participate.  The special audio file, with instructions about what time and where to gather is available to download at www.decaturcelebration.com Those with the download will perform simple in unison task throughout the downtown area.  If interested in joining the “Improve Mob” watch for a special link posted on the Theatre 7 Facebook page.

 

SUMMER JUMBLE SALE

Theatre 7′s first attempt at a Jumble Sale in April was a surprising success and was requested to return for a repeat performance.  Because of the success and most especially the special request, the Jumble Sale returns on Saturday August 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The first floor of Theatre 7′s Headquarters at 131 N. Water Street will be packed with racks, shelves, tables full of costumes, vintage wear, purses, coats, wigs, accessories, lamps, baskets, games, household items, and a few odd pieces like a complete shower stall and a hair stylist chair.

 

GOLDEN GALA

Theatre 7′s Golden Gala is set to showcase 50 years of live theater in Decatur on Saturday September 14 in the Grand Ballroom of the Decatur Club, 158 W. Prairie Street.

Those attending the cocktail hour, starting at 6:00 p.m. will be treated to a mini museum of unique costumes, a video of performance memories, and a display of vintage photos with show reviews.

Following a formal dinner and dessert, a Theatre 7 floor show, featuring musical productions from each decade will be performed by T7 veterans.

Immediately following the floor show, classic dance music will be provided by David Lee’s Party Time DJ.  A cash bar will be available throughout the night.

The entire evening is likely to delight the community with photo opportunities, surprise hosts, and guest performers.

Tickets are $30 per person and are available for purchase online by clicking the “Purchase Gala Tickets” button or in person at the Decatur Area Arts Council, 125 N. Water Street.

 

THEATRE 7 HELPS LIGHT UP DOWNTOWN DECATUR

You’re invited to come caroling with Theatre 7 in the Jaycees Lighted Christmas Parade the evening of Saturday, November 23.  Plans are being finalized for this event, but those interested in participating should reserve a spot in the parade by emailing Theatre 7 or calling us at (217) 423-2107.

 

GOLDEN EGG RAFFLE

Beginning in February 2014, T7′s lobby windows will be filled with hundreds of golden eggs.  Each egg will hold a raffle stub from which one lucky ticket will be drawn, earning the winner up to $2000.  Also, each Monday morning, beginning February 10, a bonus drawing of $50 will be made from all the eggs sold through that date.  The $50 drawings will continue for ten weeks, with the final drawing held April 21, 2014.

Theatre 7 volunteers will be selling half dozens of eggs for $20 each, with no limit on the number that can be purchased.

Proceeds from the Golden Egg Raffle will aid Theatre 7′s ability to continue its mission in the Decatur Community.

 

THEATRE 7 FAMILY REUNION

Plans are being made to hold a Theatre 7 Family Reunion the evening of Saturday, May 24 at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel’s newly promoted “Backyard” venue.  Along with a potluck supper, activities for families include sand volleyball, basketball, cath-and-release fishing, lawn games, and a bonfire.  More details to come.

GOLDEN JAY JAY AWARDS

To wrap up Theatre 7′s 50th Anniversary Season, an awards event is in the works, which will bring the style of Broadway’s Tony Awards to Decatur.  The tentative date for this banquet and ceremony is Saturday, June 21, 2014 which will be confirmed once the location is confirmed.  The community is invited to the awards ceremony and may attend the banquet as well.  Tickets will be available soon after the event plans are finalized in 2013.
